Ocean Elzi

Ocean Elzi — — Ukrainian rock group. It is created on October 12, 1994 in Lviv. The leader and the vocalist of group is Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.

The ocean Elzi are repeatedly recognized as public and critics as the best rock group and the best live-group of the CIS and Eastern Europe.

The ocean Elzi is an expressional, self-sacrificing concert drive, a unique combination of true Slavic melody to powerful fatal power.

Group plates always of a rezonansna also become a loud event. Solo concerts the Ocean Elzi which main condition is the live sound steadily attract great interest.

Date of birth of collective it is considered to be on October 12, 1994 which coincides happy birthday Pasha Gudimov!!! Why "Ocean Elzi"? Slava Vakarchuk stayed at home and watched an underwater Odyssey of team of Cousteau, the young man was struck by the ocean, its beauty, mystery, depth, and, above all – the difficult and unclear mechanism: on the one hand everything is regulated, with an arch – full irrationality, as in music. Sitting in one of cafes of the nice city of Lviv, children just thought out to themselves the name. "Ocean" occurred at once, nobody argued with it, there are even legends that the ocean picture which moved them hung on a wall of this cafe. However there was one "but", there is a lot of groups with the name "Ocean" and it sounds somehow it is banal. The Ocean group existed not for long – all hour. It was necessary to think up the second word in the name of collective that it was harmoniously combined with the Ocean …. The beautiful woman's name Elza approached after all by the way. The decision was made, the new group found the name "Ocean Elzi"!!!

Already on January 14, 1995 the Ocean Elzi group in structure: Svyatoslav Vakarchuk – a vocal, Yury Hustochka – a bass guitar, Denis Glinin – percussions and Pasha Gudimov – acoustics, - acted on the square in front of the Lviv opera theater, at a temperature of-7 before 7000-ache crowd!!!

First large achievements

In 1998 the group began to work with Vitaly Klimov, signed the contract with a label of "Nova Records" and wrote down a debut album which was published in September of the same year, under the name "There, Us It Is Mute". Songs of group won first place in various charts. Thanks to their lyricism and an unusual vocal of Svyatoslav Vakarchuk the group had fans across all Ukraine. In 1999 "Ocean Elzi" acted in Paris, in MCM Café (the performance was broadcast by MCM International TV channel). The general producer of Our Radio radio station Mikhail Kozyrev, having heard the song "Take a nap", contacted group to thank for so sincere lyrical composition and personally to notify collective that now they took the song in rotation. Therefore the Ocean Elzi group participated in the Russian Invasion rock festival. According to Vakarchuk: "It was the first arrival to Russia after which for a long time it wasn't necessary to leave". At a festival musicians won against Tavriysky games the nominations "Break of Year" and "The Best Song" (for composition "There, us it is mute"). The same year in Russia there was a reprinting of an album. However in Russia collective became widely known after hire of the movie of Alexey Balabanov "Brother-2" whose soundtrack included two songs: "Kolya to you also "Kawachai" is mute". After the movie on MTV channel 2 clips on songs "There, Us It Is Mute" and "Take a nap" appeared. At the beginning of the 2000th year the group finished work on the second album "I on Neb_ Buv" which left on two labels at once — the Ukrainian Nova Records and the Russian Real Records.
